Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister & Government Spokesman: George S. Petalotis
George S. Petalotis was born in Komotini on 11th March 1964.
He studied Law at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and after the completion of his studies he attended courses of Legal terminology, language and culture at the University of Heidelberg in Germany.
He practiced Law for 17 years as a member of Rodopi Bar Association.
Since 1993 he was elected member of the Board of Rodopi Bar Association and during the period 2002-2007, he was elected President of the Board.
In 2002, he was also elected member of the Coordinative Committee of the Plenary of Presidents of all Bar Associations in Greece.
First correspodent of the Greek Council for the Refugees.
During the period 1998-2006, he was elected Prefectural Councilor of Rodopi.
He also served as a Secretary and President of the Prefectural Council of Rodopi and President of the Prefectural Development Corporation of Rodopi.
Between 2004 and 2007, he was elected member of the PASOK Prefectural Committee of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace.
In September 2007, he was elected member of the Greek National Parliament for the Prefecture of Rodopi. During his serving he participated in several Parliamentary Committees.
On 4th October 2009, he was reelected member of the Parliament and was appointed Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister and Government Spokesman in the government formed by Prime Minister George Papandreou.
He is married to the notary Kleopatra A. Stogiannidou and has a twelve year old daughter, Alexandra.
