Affiliated Organizations

The following are under the supervision of the Secretariat General of Communication and the Secretariat General of Information.

1. Athens News Agency - Macedonian News Agency S.A. (A.N.A - M.P.A-S.A.)

The ANA-MPA constitutes the national news agency of Greece. The two news agencies - the Athens News Agency S.A. and the Macedonian News Agency, S.A. - merged in 2006, under Law 3444/2006 (Government Gazette A/46/2006).

Collects, processes and assesses national and international news, photos, as well as radio and television material and distributes it to media in Greece, Cyprus, the Diaspora and abroad.  It places great emphasis on the development of mutual relations with Balkan countries, by promoting inter-Balkan cooperation between news agencies in the region.

2. Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation S.A. (ERT S.A.)

It is the country’s public broadcaster.  As a unified entity, ERT S.A. comprises the national broadcasting television stations ET - 1 and NET, ERT 3 (which includes ET - 3 television channel and “Makedonia” radio station) as well as the radio programs of ERA.

3. Hellenic Audiovisual Institute (I.O.M.)

It is the national organization of applied research in the field of audiovisual communication in Greece. It engages in methodical research projects concerning media:  radio, television, cinema, multimedia and new technologies. It follows developments in the audiovisual industry on a national as well as international level.  It is also the national representative and coordinator of Greece’s policies on European procedures and programs for the support of the audiovisual industry.

4. National Audiovisual Archive

The objectives of the archive are the conservation and preservation of audiovisual and digital material in order to make available the historic and cultural heritage of the country to any interested party. The archive collects, archives, stores, manages, maintains, preserves, processes, provides access and utilizes audiovisual and digital material with informational-news, historical-political and in general socio-cultural content related to the heritage of the Greek state and Hellenism in general.

5. ΜEDIA Desk Hellas

MEDIA is a Program established to encourage the development, distribution and promotion of European audiovisual works within and outside the Community. The aim of the program is the support of the European audiovisual industry through the increased competitiveness on the European and international markets, the continuous vocational training of professionals in the audiovisual sector, the strengthening of the transnational circulation of European works, the respect for and promotion of linguistic and cultural diversity in Europe, the enhancement of the European audiovisual heritage, and the dissemination of new types of audiovisual content using new technologies.
