Directorate of Services Abroad

The Directorate of Services Abroad has a mandate to:

• Examine issues related to the Press and Communication Offices Abroad, determine their targets and the way they act and operate, provide them with instructions and guidelines on how to inform and influence the international public opinion in favor of Greek views and opinions.
• See to the refutation of false or misleading news deriving from articles or broadcasts by foreign Press and media, in cooperation with the Press and Communication Offices.
• Provide Press and Communication Offices with all the necessary information that will help them accomplish their mission.
• Organize missions that serve the needs of the Secretariat General of Communication – Secretariat General of Information (SGC – SGI).
• Cooperate with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in order to monitor the Press, the TV programs and the radio broadcasts of Greek Diaspora; strengthen and maintain spiritual and cultural ties with Greeks of the Diaspora.
• Gather and process data and information regarding international or specific issues which are related to transnational and international relations of Greek interest; Make use of them through the publication of news bulletins for the information of the SGC – SGI’s services, the state services and the public sector agencies.
• Plan, coordinate, supervise and control the operation and the overall activities of Press and Communication Offices.
