Library
The Library of the Secretariat General of Communication – Secretariat General of Information was founded in 1955. It contains approximately 25.500 registered volumes, 10.500 of which are books of Greek and international interest. Their content ranges from literature, history, politics, science and religion to education, culture, law and public administration. Also, the library contains encyclopedias and dictionaries, law reviews, several archives of the Greek Parliament and magazines of literary and other content.
Some books are quite rare. like publications from the beginning of the 20th century or foreign publications that are almost impossible to find in any other library.
The library contains volumes of mainly Athenian magazines and newspapers dated back to 1940 along with several regional and Cypriot newspapers. Volumes of the Official Gazette of the Greek Republic are also available. Issues published prior to 1994 are particularly useful given that they cannot be retrieved on line.
The Library offers periodic issues from 1880, 1920, 1936 as well as a full series of issues of the Official Gazette from 1955 onwards.
