November 8th-15th, The 3rd annual London Greek Film Festival opens its doors
The 3rd annual London Greek Film Festival opens its doors on Monday 8th November; a cultural event that has rightfully secured a place in the film lovers’ calendar and will run until the 15th of November.
This year’s festival has been upgraded, most notably through its new premises. The week long screenings (8-14 November) will be held at Westbourne Studios in West London (242 Acklam Road, Notting Hill, London W10 5JJ), an impressive space conveniently situated just a few yards away from Portobello. This multi-purpose artistic venue has hosted a number of other similar festivals end events. Also the Odysseus Awards will be hosted on the 15th of November at the musical and cultural venue Mythopolis, in Islington.
The Festival’s goal and aspiration is to cover the entire range of the Greek movie productions, ranging from small, independent productions to expensive and long range productions, including documentaries.
This year’s interesting innovation of the organizers of the Festival, which will take place in the British capital, is the fact that during each day all the different types of movies will be screened so that the visitors could see the variety of the productions, even if one comes to the Festival only for a day. Many of the productions will be shown for the first time in Great Britain. This Festival will also give the opportunity to the participants and the visitors to discuss and exchange ideas and concerns in respect to the Greek cinema and other issues.
The 2010 London Greek Film Festival presents more than 45 short and feature films, documentaries, experimental films and video-art productions in competition. The Festival also emphasizes the importance of networking, featuring a number of workshops under the guidance of experienced film professionals, networking events for the organisers, the participants and the visitors, as well as a special social networking party. That is why on the 12th of November Azhur Saleem (a British producer and actοr) and James Boyle (director), with previous experience in the USA and G.B., will present a workshop emphasising on the independent cinema and ways of promoting it. Also on Saturday 13th of November discussions and a workshop will take place, having as a main theme the script and its technical implementation, under the auspices of the Festival’s art director and head of the CosmoCinema, director Christos Prosilis.
The Odysseus Awards ceremony on Monday 15th November will see the 3rdLondon Greek Film Festival moving to Mythopolis (277 City Road, Islington, London EC1V 1LA) a cosy venue that has been established as the most popular with Greeks and foreign fans of good Greek music alike.
The Greek Film Festival in London is realised with the support, from the first year, of the Press Office of the Greek Embassy in London.

March, 18th - Athens – City break
The Press Office of the Greek Embassy in London organised an event on promoting Athens, on Thursday 18 March at the Hellenic Centre in London. About 150 guests, including Media representatives, diplomats, British citizens and members of the Greek community in London, attended the “Athens, a City Break” event.

Before the screening, the Head of the Press Office in London, Mr Spyros Diamantis addressed the event, outlining the new face of Athens, especially after the 2004 Olympics. “Since 2004, Athens has a new face. New infrastructure, a bigger and more modern airport, a new metro, highways, sport facilities – just to name some of the most important changes having taken place in the city. Meanwhile, the new Acropolis Museum, along with the unification of the archaeological sites, invite visitors to a journey through time. The creation of the Acropolis Museum in particular is a landmark of pride for the Greek people and we all believe that one day we’ll witness the reunification of the Parthenon Marbles in its last floor, facing the magnificent monument itself” said Mr Diamantis.
ANT1 and Hellenic TV covered the event.
