Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping minister Louka Katseli’s Press Conference at the annual IMO Conference, 23 November 2009
While in London for the annual IMO Conference 22-25 November 2009, Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping minister Louka Katseli was interviewed by the Greek correspondents in London.
The Press Conference, which was held at the IMO premises on Monday 23 November 2009, was organized by the Press and Communication Office of the Greek Embassy in London and co-ordinated by the Head of the Office Mr Spyros Diamantis
Katseli talked about the Shipping Industry being “a top priority” in her portfolio, about the importance of the Greek fleet and the government’s plans to support the Greek flag, while stressing on the initiatives and operations to fight piracy.
Moreover, the Press and Communication Office arranged an interview for minister Katseli with Tom Leander, editor-in-chief of the “Lloyd’s List” maritime newspaper.
World Travel Market– Deputy Minister Gerekou Press Conference - 9 November 2009
On the first day of the annual international tourism fair World Travel Market in London 9-11 November 2009, the Press Office of the Greek Embassy in London and the GNTO, London Office co-hosted a Press Conference with the Deputy Minister for Culture and Tourism Ms Angela Gerekou.
Many Greek and foreign reporters were present at the Press Conference, posing questions about the tourism planning in Greece, the New Acropolis Museum, the Green Plan on touristic development, the enhancement of the airports infrastructure etc. The Deputy Minister herself had the chance to elaborate on the Greek Tourism Strategy and talk about the unique tourism opportunities Greece has to offer.
The Press Conference was co-ordinated by the Head of the Press and Communication Office in London Mr Spyros Diamantis, while the Ambassador of Greece in the UK HE Mr Vassilios Pispinis and the Head of the GNTO London Office Ms Sophia Panagiotaki contributed to the panel.
2nd London Greek Film Festival, 30 October – 1 November 2009
The Press Office of the Greek Embassy in London, along with the Hellenic Centre and the London office of the GNTO supported and co-organised the second London Greek Film Festival. Among the people who followed the festival’s events were artists, film makers, producers, members of the Academia, reporters and so on.
The London Greek Film Festival is a unique opportunity for the Greek culture to reach the British public, while contributing in promoting Greek films as well as new film makers and actors.
On Sunday 1st November the Odysseus awards ceremony took place at the Hellenic Centre. Key speakers at the ceremony were the Head of the Greek Press Office in London Mr Spyros Diamantis and the Head of the GNTO London Office Ms Sophia Panagiotaki.

2nd London Greek Film Festival, 30 October – 1 November 2009
London Greek Film Festival is the international meeting point for the Greek moving image. The second Greek Film Festival will be held in The Hellenic Centre in Marylebone, London from 30 October – 1 November. The Greek Embassy, the Greek National Tourism Organisation and other organisations and companies support the Festival.
This year, 41 shortlisted films and 9 shortlisted scripts will be presented. Moreover, two workshops will take place: “Body, Awareness and Acting” and “Surpise me!” . The ceremony for the Odysseus Awards will take place on Sunday 1 November. The Head of the Press Office in London, Mr Spyros Diamantis, along with the Director of the GNTO London Office and other special guests will deliver short speeches.
