May 9, 2009 – Europe Day
On May 9th, the Delegation of the European Commission in Serbia organized “Europe Day”, an annual event aiming at fostering unity among the Europeans. The opening of the festivities was declared by vice-president of the government Bozidar Djelic and head of the European Commission’s Delegation in Serbia Joseph Lloveras. Embassies from 19 European countries participated with stands along a main walking street of downtown historic city of Belgrade.
The Greek stand became a considerable point of interest for the large Serbian public, while the Press and Communications Office saw after its formation, operation and supply with printed and audiovisual promotion material by the Greek National Tourism Organization (EOT). Among the main themes of the Greek stand were the New Acropolis Museum, Greek tourist and historic destinations, significant Greek figures in the modern history, art and science, as well as sophisticated infrastructure in Greece.
During the “Europe Day” events, the Press and Communications Office helped promoting Greece’s strong support to Serbia’s European integration as well as the large Greek investment in the Serbian economy. Moreover the Press and Communications Office in Belgrade facilitated the Ambassador Demosthenes Stoides’ statements to the Serbian Media.
