Photographic exhibition «Happiness» (06.11.08)

The Hellenic House in Paris is currently showing an exhibition presenting the work of the Greek photographer Christos Sarris, organised by the Press and Communication Office of the Greek Embassy in France. Inaugurated on Thursday, November 6th, the exhibition «Happiness» will last until November 16th, participating in the “Mois de la Photo-OFF” taking place this month in Paris.

In principle, the Mois de la Photo-OFF is a fringe festival, aiming to provide an alternative dynamic perspective as well as to support emerging photographers, which is organised in parallel to the official “Mois de la Photo” festival, held every two years in the French capital.

The photos exhibited in «Happiness» are basically snap-shots of everyday life throughout the world, pictures of people and objects from distant places that Christos Sarris has been most fortunate to visit, real images the artist focussed on with a vivid desire to share with others. « You should know how fortunate you are the moment you set foot on that aiplane. I am part of the lucky ones, and whenever I find myself ‘there’, I tend to admire the simple things, the amazing surrealism of everyday life in faraway places», confesses Sarris.

18 September 2008 - Art Exhiibtion: «Bastille-Kerameikos»

The art exhibition «Bastille-Kerameikos», presenting the most recent work of the Greek painter Pavlos Habidis, was inaugurated on Thursday, September 18th, in the heart of the French capital. The exposition, organised under the aegis of the Press and Communication Office of the Greek Embassy in Paris at the Beckel Odille Boïcos gallery, in the very area of Bastille, will last until October 25th.

The paintings exhibited are mostly watercolors, inspired by typical scenes and sceneries from both Paris and Athens: the artist, through selecting and proposing themes and images of everyday life, succeeds in attracting the eye and interest of the art loving visitor. Bringing together the Parisian Bastille and the Athenian Kerameikos, both districts bearing a considerable historical importance, the painter attempts and achieves the rapprochement of the two European capitals in his own unique way.
