21 May 2008 - Press Conference: Henry Muller’s translation of Homer’s Odyssey in Luxembourg
The conclusion of a much awaited Herculean labour of love, i.e. the translation and publication in Letzebuergesch (Luxembourg) of Homer’s epic Odyssey, by the esteemed scholar Henry Muller, was officially presented on May 26th at the Abbaye Neumόnster, Luxembourg.
Prior to the official presentation, a media briefing presenting this momentous work was held at the Press and Communication Office of the Greek Embassy in Luxembourg, which had also financed the work. Recounting some of the challenges he encountered in the course of the translation, Muller pointed out that where no corresponding words in Letzebuergesch existed, he had to invent new ones, contributing in the process to the enrichment of the Letzebuergesch language itself.
