Traditional cutting of Greek New Year’s cake in Berlin (17 January, 2008)
The traditional cutting of the Greek New Year’s cake (Vassilopita) - which is an annual celebration of wishes for the New Year, was an occasion for the Press and Communication Office of the Greek Embassy in Berlin, under its new Director, to hold a large reception on it premises, in a neoclassical building located in Berlin’s Gendarmenmarkt historical square.
The event, which took place on February 11, gathered journalists, politicians, diplomats and representatives of Berlin’s Greek community. Guests included Federal Undersecretary for Education and Research Dr.Thomas Rachel and former Foreign Undersecretary Dr.Werner Hoyer.
